Question:

How do I set the maximum number of retries for queued messages?

Procedure:

You can modify the message retry settings from the SEG or MailMarshal Configurator as follows:

From the Management Interface (MailMarshal (SEG) 10):

  1. Go to System Configuration Advanced System Properties | Times.
  2. In the Message transmission (minutes) section, set the appropriate values in the Retry Periods field.

From the Configurator (6.5 through 8.2):

  1. Go to Tools | Trustwave SEG Properties Advanced System Properties | Times.
  2. In the Message transmission (minutes) section, set the appropriate values in the Retry Periods field.

This function is also available in earlier versions. See Help.

Notes:

As indicated in the product help, the Retry Periods field is a comma separated list of periods (in minutes) between attempts to send messages to a remote domain.  After each period has been used once, the final value in this list will be used until the "expiration" time is reached.

The Expiration field indicates the number of minutes for which SEG will attempt to send a message.  The default is 4320 minutes (72 hours).  To restore the default settings (for any individual tab or all tabs within the dialog), click the Default or Restore Defaults button.
