Symptoms:
- Error: SNMP agent failed to start because wtagent.dll is missing or unconfigured.
- SNMP agent failed to start.
Changes Made:
This occurs on a new install of Windows NT or if you have recently installed any Microsoft software of srervice pack.
Causes:
The wtagent.dll is missing or is not configured.
Information:
Follow these steps to resolve the error:
- First, verify that the SNMP service is installed.
- To do this, right click Network Neighborhood and choose Properties.
- You will see a Services tab (this is not the same services from control panel).
- Verify that SNMP is listed. If not, you will need to choose Add and install it.
- Once you have verified that SNMP is installed, re-install the Windows NT Service Pack that was currently installed. Even if SNMP was installed, you must re-install the service pack.
When you see the SNMP agent failed to start because wtagent.dll is missing or unconfigured error, it is almost always because of the above reasons.
