Error: An entry point cannot be located in MSVCRT.DLL.

This article applies to:

• WebTrends Firewall Suite 2.X
• WebTrends Firewall Suite 3.X

Symptoms:

• Error: An entry point cannot be located in MSVCRT.DLL.

Information:

This situation has been known to happen after a fresh install of Firewall Suite. It tends to happen more frequently if the update is installed on a computer running Microsoft Windows NT and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0.  It may be caused by another program using MSVCRT.DLL during the installation.

Substitute with your directory structure as appropriate. From the command prompt:

1. Go to the Winnt\system32 directory.

2. Rename MSVCRT.DLL to MSVCRT.OLD.

3. Go to the Program Files\<Firewall suite installation> directory.

4. Copy MSVCRT.DLL to the WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory.

5. Restart the computer.

If you cannot rename the MSVCRT.DLL file (see step 3 above), the DLL is still in use. You may need to restart the computer in safe mode. This will stop the DLL from being loaded by another program. You should then be able to complete the above steps and restart again in normal mode.
