HOWTO: How to install CA AntiVirus with MailMarshal

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Trustwave MailMarshal (SEG)
  • Trustwave ECM/MailMarshal Exchange
  • InoculateIT 6.0
  • eTrust™ EZAntiVirus
  • CA AntiVirus

Question:

  • How do I install CA AntiVirus (formerly eTrust™ EZAntiVirus or InoculateIT) with MailMarshal?

Procedure:

You can now use CA AntiVirus (formerly eTrust™ EZAntiVirus or InoculateIT 6.0) from Computer Associates with MailMarshal. It has a special command line utility caavcmdscan.exe, which can be run under MailMarshal. (Note: eTrust™ EZAntiVirus and InoculateIT are no longer supported by MailMarshal).

To set up the CA AntiVirus scanner, in current supported versions of the products follow these steps:

  1. In the Configurator or Management Console, navigate to Policy Elements | Virus Scanners and choose to add a scanner.
  2. This scanner should be in the list of command line scanners (the name may vary).
  3. IN the Pather or Command Line field, browse to the location of the command line utility.
  4. Complete adding the scanner.
  5. Set up or enable a virus scanning rule, using the "Where message contains a virus" condition if you do not have one already.
  6. If you run the CA Antivirus Realtime Monitor on the MailMarshal server, you also need to exclude the appropriate folders from any Realtime scanning. You can do this via Realtime Monitor Options | Filters | Directory. See the User Guide or Help to understand the reason for this requirement.

The location of these folders is discussed in Trustwave knowledge base article Q10850
