Question:

• How do I test e-mail policy rules set up to block or filter different types of e-mail messages and attachments?
• Which types of e-mail messages and attachments can I block or filter?

Procedure:

To test the e-mail policy rules you have set up to block or filter some common types of e-mail messages and attachments, send an e-mail to one of the following addresses and a message of the corresponding type will automatically be sent back to you. The message is returned "from" test.service@marshal.com

Notes:

• The subject of your message must contain the word: test
• You should only use this service for manual rule testing. This service is not intended as a connectivity checker. Overuse could result in your requests being ignored.

Choose any of the following options:

• echo.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – returns a basic test message.

• bounce.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – returns an email with your original message attached.

• virus.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – attaches a pseudo test virus file (a harmless text string).

• spam.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – returns a short text message that will trigger the SpamCensor or SpamProfiler (GTUBE standard spam test).

• urlcategorizer.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com - returns a short text message containing a harmless URL that will trigger the URL Categorizer (Suspect URLs) cloud service (Trustwave SEG 7.5 and above)

• archive.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – attaches a sample .zip file.

• docimage.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – attaches a Word document with an embedded image.

• renamed.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – attaches a benign executable which has been renamed with a .txt extension.

• doc.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – attaches a sample PDF file.

• exe.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – attaches a small and benign executable.

• image.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – attaches a small JPG file.

• video.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – attaches a small AVI file.

• sound.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – attaches a small WAV file.

• mail.test@segpolicytester.trustwave.com – attaches this help information.
