Question:
- How can I remove a URL from a filtering list?
- How can I all users to access some sites in a blocked category?
Procedure:
WebMarshal can be intergrated with the Trustwave web filter database (previously known as M86 Filter List).
- Note: Other automatically updated lists were previously supported but they are no longer available (MarshalFilter, SmartFilter).
You may occasionally find that a URL is categorized in a way that does not suit your organization's requirements.
- You can make an exception within WebMarshal rules.
- You can request a review of the category listing.
To Make An Exception:
You can make an exception to category listings for any URL or group of URLs. Simply create a WebMarshal URL Category and add the URLs you want to allow as exceptions.
Then use the WebMarshal Site Rule condition "Except where URL is a member of Category."
For instance:
- Create a URL Category as follows:
Allowed Entertainment Sites (1 URL)
http://icanhascheezburger.com/
- Create a Standard Rule (or modify the default rule) as follows:
Site Rule: Block - Time-wasting Content (Restricted Users)
Blocks known time-wasting sites for Restricted Users
Usage: Add additional URLs into any of the URL Categories contained in the 'Time Wasting' Category grouping. Add exception into the URL Category 'Allowed Entertainment Sites.'
When a web request is received
Where the User is a member of 'Restricted Users'
And where the URL is a member of '[Time Wasting]'
Except where the URL is a member of 'Allowed Entertainment Sites'
Block Access to this site and display 'Blocked' page
Classify the domain as 'Time Wasting'
And do not process any further rules
To Request Review of a Listing:
To check the categorization of a URL in the lists, and to request review, see the following web link.
Note: All change requests are carefully considered, but not every request is accepted.
You can also access this link from the WebMarshal Console (under Tools > URL Check and Review).
- Other review links may be available from the Console depending on version, but no other list is currently available for license and these other links have no practical effect.
