3505 - Failed to deadletter (MMSender errors)

This article applies to:

  • Trustwave MailMarshal (SEG)

Symptoms:

Event ID: 3505
Type: Warning
Source: MMSender
Description: Failed to deadletter

The MailMarshal SMTP Sender service was unable to move a message to the relevant DeadLetter subfolder.

Causes:

This could be a result of the file being locked, or a result of the path specification for the DeadLetter directory being invalid. This event's description will typically give some indication as to precisely why the file cannot be moved.

The problem can be due to the file being locked by an outside process, the file being removed by an outside process, the path for the DeadLetter folder being invalid, or the MailMarshal Sender having insufficient permissions to write to the destination folder.

This event indicates that the MailMarshal Sender service was unable to copy the .MML file from the Queues\Sending folder into DeadLetter\Routing.

Resolution:

Verify that the path selected for this folder is correct.

Verify that virus scanners and archiving applications are not attempting to access the files.

Verify that the MailMarshal Engine has sufficient permissions over the deadletter folders.
