Question:
How do I update client browser proxy settings for all users?Procedure:
To update the proxy settings for all WebMarshal users follow the steps below:
Internet Explorer and other browsers that use System Proxy settings
Note that some browsers do not use the system proxy by default.
Section A
- On the Domain Controller machine click on Start and select Run.
- Type gpedit.msc in the Open field to open Group Policy.
- Navigate to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer.
- Enable the policy: Disable changing proxy settings Properties. Click OK.
Section B
- Navigate within the Group Policy to Configuration\Windows Settings\Internet Explorer Maintenance\Connection.
- Right click on Proxy Settings and select Properties.
- Check the Enable proxy settings box. Enter the IP address of your proxy server in the HTTP field. Click OK.
Notes:
Other Ways to Automate configuration:
- Another automated way to accomplish this is to let the DHCP server automatically set the proxy server with the use of "Automatic configuration settings". If you are concerned that end users can manually change their Browser Proxy settings, then you can configure your firewall to only accept browsing traffic from the WebMarshal Server. - WPAD or proxy.pac settings are another automated way that the proxy server setting can be updated. See the linked article below. Trustwave Technical Support is not responsible for the set up and configuration of this option.
