Question:
How do I change the default folder location in MailMarshal?Procedure:
Sometimes it may become necessary to move the SEG or ECM folders to an alternative location. This may be for reasons relating to disk space or performance, or it may be required simply for housekeeping purposes.
Moving folders is a two stage process:
- Set up SEG or ECM to point to the new folder location.
- Move existing files (quarantined mail and possibly log files) to the new location. In some cases this can be done automatically.
- You can use the Server Tool to change the base location for quarantine folders on each email processing server.
- Note: When you change the base location for all folders using the Server Tool, the product offers to copy existing files. After files are copied you must manually delete them from the old location. Copying files can take considerable time.
- For more information, see the User Guide and Help for the Server Tool. This process requires service restarts.
- In SEG 8.X and ECM 7.X, you can change the physical path of each folder using the Configurator. In the Configurator, open the General tab of the Folder Properties window for each folder. For more information, refer to Help for this window.
- Note: When you use the Configurator to change the physical location of a single folder, the product does not move existing files. You must move files manually.
- This ability is not available in MailMarshal (SEG) 10.X
For general information about folders see the 'Working with Folders' section in the User Guide. The Guide is installed with the product. You can find the latest version on the documentation page for each product, or search product documentation from the Support section of the Trustwave website.
