FAQ: Renew or Delete SSL Certificate

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Web Filter
  • Security Reporter

Questions:

  • I just renewed my SSL certificate, do I delete the existing SSL certificate?
  • I am going to renew my certificate, do I need to delete existing SSL certificate?
  • When I create a new CSR, does it affect my existing SSL certificate?

Reply:

Important: You do not need to delete your existing SSL certificate, you can simply upload the renewed certificate once you receive from the vendor. If you delete the existing certificate without having the new/replacement certificate handy, you need to create self signed certificate. Otherwise web based authentication and blocked page may not load.

How to create a CSR? Click here

If you already have created the CSR and received an SSL certificate back from the certificate authority, you may upload the new one. It will overwrite the old SSL Certificate.
