HOWTO: How do I change the default folder for MailMarshal logs?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Trustwave ECM/MailMarshal Exchange
  • Trustwave MailMarshal (SEG)

Question:

How do I change the default folder for MailMarshal logs?

Symptoms:

  • MailMarshal logs are consuming a large amount of disk space.

Procedure:

You can configure MailMarshal to write its service logs to a custom folder or hard drive separate from the default MailMarshal installation. However, the logging folder should be on the local machine to prevent network outages from interfering with core MailMarshal processing.

  1. Create the target directory where the MailMarshal logs will be stored.
  2. Stop all MailMarshal services on the server.
  3. Launch the MailMarshal Server Tool.
  4. Click the Folders tab.
  5. Click the Browse button next to the heading 'Location of text logging.'
  6. Browse and select the folder created in Step 1.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Click OK to the MailMarshal Server Tool.
  9. If required, copy your existing MailMarshal logs to the new logging directory.
  10. Restart the MailMarshal services.
  11. Repeat Steps 1 - 10 on each MailMarshal server where you want to change the logging directory (array manager or processing server).
