Question:
- What is the intended usage of the MailMarshal Cloud Blocked Senders feature?
- How can I enable Blocked Senders?
- What are the limitations on Blocked Senders data retention?
Information:
Blocked Senders allows email end users to maintain a list of addresses that are always blocked for them (incoming messages will never be delivered to the recipient).
- Blocked Senders is intended to allow blocking of "grey" material such as newsletters, that some users may want to receive and others do not.
- Blocked senders is NOT intended as a general spam blocker. Users should not add spam sender addresses to this list. Missed spam should be reported in the usual way. See the Reporting Spam FAQ.
This feature works in the same way as the default Safe Senders:
- Users maintain a list of addresses in the SQM website.
- A rule in the Anti-Spam (Incoming) policy applies the list.
Enabling Blocked Senders:
- Request enablement from your MailMarshal Cloud support provider.
- If you have end user SQM logins in more than one domain, you can limit enablement to specific domains.
- Enable the rule in the Anti-Spam (Incoming) policy. This rule also allows user matching.
Limitations:
Entries in the Blocked Senders list that have not triggered in 60 days will be purged. This is a rolling window. If an entry triggers, the 60 day timer is reset.
